Winter is not my favorite season , but the afternoon light in winter--or at least for a short portion of it, from late December to very early February, is gorgeous. It lasts for a very short time each day, but you will know it when you see it…it may stop you in your tracks. Beautiful and golden and usually there will be a glorious sunset following. Perhaps it's nature's way of atoning for the cold and the dark and the barrenness when we are tilted so far away from the sun.
