A Light In Winter • RI Children's Photographer

I'll cut right to the chase.  Winter isn't everyone's favorite season, especially here in Rhode Island where it's long (ok, it's the same as the other seasons but doesn't it seem longer?), it's dark, it's cold (except when it's 65...but you never know).  There are pluses to winter:  the snow is pretty and even welcome if you like snow sports.  Cold nights mean cozying up by the fire or under a blanket with loved ones.  But a lot of us long for the warmer days of summer and dream of the beach, green leaves and long days.

Winter doesn't always come to mind as a prime time for photos, but as a RI children's photographer, it's one of my favorite times for photos.  Winter light is, at least to me, the most beautiful light of all.  The bare trees let more of that pretty light through.

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing a lovely young lady on a late winter afternoon.  We went to one of my favorite spots in Wakefield.  Would you believe her outfit was just two pieces put together from Amazon!  The skirt comes in tons of colors and is gorgeous!  Ladies, take note....this skirt is great for photos, special occasions and the like.  The sizing goes by length; the waist is one size.  While they are geared towards adult height, we just pulled the skirt up to empire waist-style and it can work just as well with the younger set.

We got some of that lovely winter light during our session!  I'm so happy to have been able to capture this gorgeous girl multiple times over the past few years as she grows.  Check out our photos below, and to book your own winter (or spring!) session, get in touch.
