Surfboard Stories volume 12 • Wakefield RI Photographer
In today's edition of Surfboard Stories, we have Darin. D brought his awesome vintage Hansen with him. D hasn't been surfing a super long time but don't let that fool you...he's already pretty damn good at it and he's also SOOOO ready to surf at all times. Carlos (my very favorite surfer, from volume 11) taught Darin how to surf and also got him into vintage boards. Now D has a few really awesome old boards and he is also amazing at repairing and restoring them. He did a fantastic job with this Hansen...I might have to outsource my repairs to him when I get too annoyed with doing them myself...hmmmmmm. One cool thing about this shoot is that D's board had been in the water so recently that there was still water in the fin box and it kind of "peed" on the backdrop by his feet. He said he was sorry about that...I said don't ever be sorry for salt water. I think those little drops just make it better. Check out Darin's photo and answers below.
What's your name? Darin Armstrong.
Do you have a superhero name or any superpowers I should know about? No superhero name, but cat like reflexes.
What board did you bring with you today? My Hansen 9' 4"
Why did you bring this board? Because it's my favorite and it's bad ass.
Where did you get it? It was a Craigslist trade. I got the better deal!
Do you remember the first wave you ever caught on this board? Yes, at the Pier which isn't my first choice but I had just finished fixing it up and had to get it in the water. I'm sure it wasn't pretty...
Do you remember your favorite wave ever (or favorite day ever) on this board? Not specifically, every day out is a good day!
Do you have a favorite place to ride it? Pilgrims
Any final words?
