Special edition princess sessions are some of my most popular sessions (and some of my favorite ones to photograph as a RI children's photographer)! And even though I do them all year round, late spring through fall are when they're most popular. Spring blooms, summer greens, and fall foliage combined with nice weather make for great backdrops and a pleasant session.
These sessions are often a dream come true, once-in-a-lifetime magical experience for the young ladies being photographed. They're unique sessions, and there are a number of frequently asked questions that I receive pertaining to them. Because these questions are so often asked, I decided to answer them in a blog post so they're all in one place. Ready to learn more? Let's go!
Q. DO YOU SUPPLY THE DRESSES?
A. Yes! I have a whole collection of couture dresses in various colors, and the size range is 5 through 10, which I've found to be the most popular sizes. I have both long and short dresses, and often add new ones to the collection to choose from!
Q. WHAT IF MY CHILD IS OUTSIDE THE SIZE RANGE OF THE DRESSES YOU OFFER?
A. If this is the case, not to worry. There are several vendors I work with who offer rental options for dresses in sizes outside of the ones I supply, and we can find something to accommodate your princess.
Q. ARE THESE SESSIONS FOR ONLY ONE CHILD, OR CAN MORE THAN ONE PARTICIPATE?
A. While these sessions are geared towards one child, up to three may participate (for each extra child add $25 to the session fee). Boys may participate as well! I don't provide wardrobe for boys for these sessions, but will help you pick something that coordinates with your chosen dress.
Q. WHAT KIND OF SHOES SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR?
For long dresses, it doesn't matter as we won't be able to see feet. My go-to recommendation is sparkly flats or sandals; they always look nice! Lots of ladies go barefoot in warm months. In winter, boots under the dresses for sure!
Q. DO YOU DO THESE SESSIONS ONLY IN SUMMER?
A. No, sessions are held all year long. I've done several in the snow! I have a number of dresses and accessories that are suited to colder weather.
Q. WHERE ARE THE SESSIONS HELD?
A. There are a large number of locations I frequently use, both natural and more urban. These locations work beautifully with the dresses. We will discuss possibilities at your consult, and if you have a specific location in mind already, that can also be accommodated.
Q. MY CHILD DOESN'T LIKE POSING FOR PHOTOS. WILL THESE SESSIONS WORK FOR HER?
A. Yes! These sessions are full of bubble blowing, spinning, and other "unposed" poses. And I have my ways of getting kids to smile and pose, even when they don't know they're doing it!
