Three Reasons Winter Photo Sessions Are The Best | RI Family Photographer

Winter is here. The calendar and a short trip outside confirm that the coldest season of the year is upon us. It’s a great time for snuggling inside under blankets or by a fire. Winter is also a great time for outdoor photo sessions. Wait, what? Outdoor photo sessions in winter? Yes, you read that right. As a RI family photographer, winter is one of my favorite times of the year to do outdoor photo sessions, and is the underrated, unsung hero of the outdoor photography session world. From the delicious light to the beauty of falling snow, winter is where it’s at. Read below to find out why you should book your winter photo session ASAP.

1. Stunning Seasonal Scenery: Winter landscapes, with their snow-covered trees, frosty textures, and soft, diffused light, create a magical setting for portraits. The snow acts as a natural reflector, making skin tones appear radiant and soft, while adding a serene and timeless atmosphere to your photos.

2. Unique Vibe and Aesthetic: Winter portraits stand out because they capture a sense of quiet, still beauty that other seasons don’t quite match. The cool tones of the environment contrast beautifully with warm clothing, and the season can evoke feelings of coziness, elegance, or even adventure, depending on your style.

3. Less Crowded Locations: Since fewer people tend to schedule outdoor shoots in the winter, popular locations are often less crowded, allowing for a more intimate and peaceful experience. This also gives you a better chance to get the perfect shot without distractions, and you can take advantage of tranquil, picturesque settings that are less accessible in other seasons.
